This is a real actual comic. Someone wrote a comic called “The Mystery of the Exploding House” and it was not a parody of TALES OF THE ASTONISHING UNKNOWN type comics.

Out of curiosity, I was reading about the 1980 Richie Rich cartoon. Richie appears to be trying very hard to reach puberty, since he’s morphed into the generic Hannah-Barbera style. (I’m not sure if this should be tagged with “horrific genetic experimentation” or not.)

The Wikipedia article lists the different segments the show has, and these caught my eye…

Richie Rich Riches – This segment deals with threats to the Rich family or more specifically Richie.

Richie Rich Treasure Chest – Dollar-and/or-Cadbury-centred segments.

Awww, the Rich family considers Cadbury a treasure. Right on level with the non-sapient creature that rolls in its own poop.

Speaking of that sidebar, Mr. Rich there is labeled as Little Lotta. What up with that

Well I’m weirded out now. I was gonna guess one-time transitionary period fuckup, but they replaced Little Lotta with Mr. Rich in issue 5, and Mr. Rich is properly labeled in the sidebar in that issue and on issues 6 and 7, then on the cover of 8 they changed the portrait (but not the placement) for him and Reginald and neither of them were labelled at all, and then for god knows what reason Mr. Rich is suddenly labelled Little Lotta for TWO ISSUES, this being the second.one.

The only conclusion i can draw from all this is that in true Rich Industries fashion, Harvey Comics were laid out and printed in sweatshops.

Jackie called the person who was remote-controlling it and did a vocal impersonation of the villain guy. Richie’s contribution consisted of blinding the villain later for a few seconds by reflecting the sun with his diamond cufflink. It was not a very good comic!
